Financial Freedom February

Day 1: 2019 Financial Goals

This is the 3rd edition of my favorite series -- and it's not just my favorite because I write it. (Let's be real. Politics is my favorite thing to write about 😜).

It's my favorite because I'm passionate about financial freedom. Why? Because when you're in charge of your money, not only do you have peace of mind, you're also able to help others.

Imagine how much good we could do as people, as neighbors, as cities, as states, and as a country if we truly reigned in our finances and became financially literate. We'd be able help those in need both with our time freedom and our financial freedom -- and we wouldn't need to rely on Uncle Sam to do it.

That's my "why" and my passion behind personal finance. Speaking of that -- it's called "personal" finance for a reason. There isn't a one-size-fits all approach that you must follow. I write this series more for myself than I do for you guys! But part of personal finance is finding tips and tricks that work for you, with the ultimate goal of being debt free.

Financial Freedom February is more fun when you participate, so feel free to add your own tips, critique mine, or ask questions along the way. I'm hoping some of my financially savvy friends will chime in, and I'm hoping those who have questions aren't afraid to ask them. Seriously. There are no stupid questions.

I'll be covering a wide variety of topics over the next 28 days: How to Budget, How to Get Out of Debt, Passive Income, Good Debt vs. Bad Debt, Bad Debt, Credit Cards, Retirement, Investing, and I'll even be sprinkling in some quotes over the weekends.

For Day 1, my only piece of advice is set 3 financial goals for yourself. We're 1 month into 2019 -- what's your money situation going to look like by the end of the year?

Here are my 3 goals for 2019:

1. Be debt free minus my mortgage 2. Have $6,000 in my emergency fund 3. Buy 1 rental property

If you don't know how to set goals, check out this article to get you pointed in the right direction:

Have you set any financial goals for 2019? What are they? How did you decide on them?
